I unexpectedly became a widow at noon on 1st April 2017, at the age of 46. The immediate aftermath passed in a bit of a haze. It was as though a nuclear bomb had been detonated in the middle of my life. It helped to write things down, before I forgot them. As time passed, and the fog lifted, larger parts of a day could pass without being reminded of my new life status, however small noticings can still pull me back. They often lead to connected reflections over a period of days. Each of these posts is the result of one of these significant fragments. More often than not they seem to relate to music, only time can tell whether this theme will continue. Music has always been a fundamental part of my life, so perhaps it isn't such a surprise that it is also the medium that my body and mind seem to have chosen for my recovery. Sometimes these periods of reflection are painful, but I have decided to share some of them in the hope that it might help the sadly inevitable fellow travellers who will follow me on this journey. We will all walk our own path, but sometimes it helps to stop for a minute, look back, and then hopefully look forward and carry on, stronger.
